24 Hours in Wadi Rum

Jeeping in Wadi Rum

wadi rum desert

On the trip to Jordan a necessary stop is Wadi Rum. Tranquillity, silence, vastness and epic  rock formations that seemed surreal are something one should see at least once in their lifetime.

Wadi Rum desert was on next stop from Petra in my itinerary. A mini local bus will take you to Wadi Rum Visitors centre (cost 5 JOD) where guides wait for new arriving visitors. I have chosen Bedouin Directions and was highly satisfied with their service and program. Only having one day available in desert have pick up one of many options in their offer and decided to have a Day Jeep tour with overnight in their camp.
Although called Jeep tour this option included walking in the desert and canyons as well.  I saw  Lawrence Spring, Red Sand Dunes, Anfishieh Inscriptions, Burdah Arch,  House of Lawrence, Um Frouth and The Chicken Rock. After the tour we were taken to cozy little camp where dinner was served (Bedouin barbecue) and spent a night in huge tent.

Additional fun – ask your guide to drive the jeep – had luck and was allowed to sit in front of steering wheel and drive in the middle of nowhere:) Nice experience.

Due to all the dust and heat  I was lazy and have taken most of the photos with my Iphone.
