Hostel review: Koala Inn in Pasto
Whether you’ll stay in Koala Inn depends on what you look for when travelling. Hostel turned out as perfect choice for a cheap stopover yet basic and what matters to me the most, located at the centre of Pasto. As soon as you step on the bustling street, there are many restaurants and bakeries. Very handy because the hostel doesn’t serve any meals. Two blocks away there is main plaza where taxis wait and a bit further Exito supermarket. Everything you need is in a reach of walking distance. However the main bus station is on the other side of Pasto and the most convenient way to get there is by taxi. (approx 10 – 15 minutes drive, cost 5000 COP).
We booked double room with bathroom, at the time of our stay there was no hot water. Room was clean (rooms are cleaned daily), spacious with two comfortable beds that could easily accommodate up to four people. Hotel has lounge area with TV and offers free wifi. In case you travel without laptop or any gadget that uses wifi, you have an option to pay for the internet from an old computer.
Owner can speak a liitle English ( basics) and was very helpful and will advise on anything related to the city. Looked like the hostel is popular with travelers heading from or to Ecuador.
If arriving from Pasto Airport count on 45 minute drive that will cost you approx. 30 000 COP per ride.
